Our Services

Comprehensive Farm Waste Recycling Solutions

Comprehensive recycling solutions for farmers and agricultural businesses. Whatever your farm produces, our agricultural waste services make recycling and disposal simple, with one call to arrange everything.

Farm Plastic Recycling

Authorised Solway collector. Silage wrap, sheet, bags, string and all farm plastics with the Bin & Liner System. We offer farm plastic waste collection direct from your yard, charged per liner, and the more liners you have, the lower the price per liner. It is the easy way to handle farm plastic disposal without burning or burying it.

Farm Tyre Recycling

Car, agricultural and lorry tyres, tracks and tyres on rims – from a few to thousands. We send a vehicle sized to the job, from a pickup for a handful of tyres to an artic for thousands, so farm tyre disposal is simple, however many you have.

Waste Oil Collection

Waste oil is collected by tanker from farms and agricultural businesses. No membership fees. Our farm waste oil collection service suits a single tank or several across different sites. Waste oil is classed as hazardous waste, so we collect it directly from your farm and make sure it is disposed of and recycled properly.

Bulk HGV Haulage

Our own articulated HGV with walking floor and curtainside trailers for bulk loads. We regularly move bulk compost and mulch across the region, along with palletised and bagged goods, at competitive haulage rates.

Recycled Plastic Boards

Solway boards in 6mm, 9mm and 12mm, made from the farm plastics we collect. Our recycled plastic boards come in 8ft x 4ft sheets as standard, giving your old farm plastics a second life as a durable, useful product.

Hub Events

Annual plastic recycling hubs across the South West, plus tyre recycling hub days.

What We Recycle

Farm Plastics We Collect

We specialise in collecting and recycling a wide range of farm plastics using the Solway Bin & Liner System:

Used properly, one liner can hold over 250 round bale wraps. Each material should go in its own liner, so it stays clean and can be recycled. Not sure if something can go in? Give us a call, and we will let you know.

Why Recycle

Why Recycle Your Farm Waste?

Since 2006, farmers in England and Wales have not been able to burn or bury their farm plastics, and farm waste needs to be disposed of with a proper audit trail.

Our co-founder, Ian Kitson, first saw the need for a reliable farm waste recycling service back then, and has worked in farm waste management ever since.

The recycling of agricultural waste is good for your farm too:

The Team Behind Farm Waste Solutions

Farm Waste Solutions was founded in 2024 by Ian Kitson and Ed Du Val. Ian brings decades of experience in farm waste management, and Ed is the managing partner of Apsley Farms, one of the UK’s leading anaerobic digestion plants. Together with our partner, Solway Recycling, we make sure your farm waste is processed responsibly.

General farm waste is the everyday waste a farm produces that is not natural material, such as plastics, packaging, tyres, waste oil and metal. Manure and slurry spread on your own land as fertiliser are not normally treated as waste.

Good agricultural waste disposal starts with keeping each type of waste separate, storing it safely and using a registered waste carrier to take it away. We collect farm plastics, tyres and waste oil from your farm, or you can bring them to one of our hub events.

Agricultural waste management is how a farm stores, handles, reduces and disposes of its waste. A simple farm waste management plan sets out what waste you produce, where it is kept and who collects it, so nothing builds up.

Buy in bulk to cut down on packaging, reuse what you can, and keep plastics clean and dry so they can be recycled rather than sent to landfill. Booking regular collections also stops waste building up around the farm.

All plastics are baled at our yard and sent to UK-based recyclers, where they are shredded, washed and melted down into polymer pellets. Some of it comes back as Solway recycled plastic boards, which we sell.

At our tyre recycling hub days, car tyres are £220 per tonne, lorry tyres £270 per tonne and agricultural tyres £300 per tonne, all plus VAT, with a minimum charge of £70 + VAT per load. Contact us for a quote for a collection from your farm.
